Ilika targets bioelectronic medicine as next commercial pathway

Ilika Plc

Ilika is using its participation in the Bioelectronic Medicine Forum to directly signal a new commercial focus for its solid-state battery technology. The company is aligning itself with developers of implantable and wearable medical devices, where battery performance is a limiting factor and a potential point of differentiation.

Bioelectronic medicine requires power sources that are small, reliable and safe over long periods inside the human body. Ilika’s solid-state batteries are designed to meet these requirements, removing the risks associated with liquid electrolytes while enabling device miniaturisation.

The company is positioning its technology as an enabling component within this ecosystem rather than a standalone product. By engaging with device manufacturers and researchers at an early stage, Ilika is seeking to embed itself in development pipelines before products reach commercial scale.

Clinical validation and regulatory approval will determine adoption speed, which introduces uncertainty. However, early positioning allows Ilika to establish relevance while competitors may still be focused on more mature battery markets.

Ilika plc (LON:IKA) is a pioneer in solid state battery technology enabling solutions for applications in Industrial IoT, MedTech, Electric Vehicles and Consumer Electronics.
