Quicklime demand builds as copper producers face processing bottlenecks

Firering Strategic Minerals plc

As miners push to meet rising demand, a growing focus is falling on chemical inputs essential to keep ore processing plants running efficiently. Quicklime, a calcium-based material used heavily in metals extraction, is starting to see a resurgence in mining activity, driven by both operational pressure and regulatory requirements.

Copper production is facing fresh constraints. Grades are declining, permitting is slower, and new projects are more complex. This has forced many operators to squeeze more from existing assets. That, in turn, increases their reliance on processing aids like quicklime. Its role is both chemical and structural, raising pH levels, enabling flotation processes, and stabilising tailings for safe disposal. For large operations, supply disruptions or quality inconsistencies in lime can directly affect throughput and environmental compliance.

Firering Strategic Minerals plc (LON:FRG) is an emerging quicklime producer and critical minerals explorer, with operations in Zambia and West Africa.
