Zotefoams’ ReZorce wins Best Recycled Plastic Product of the Year

Zotefoams

Zotefoams plc (LON:ZTF), a world leader in cellular materials technology, has announced that ReZorce® mono-material barrier packaging has been named Best Recycled Plastic Product of the Year at the 2023 Plastics Industry Awards.

Announcing their decision at the Awards ceremony, the judges said: “This groundbreaking plastic material looks set to replace the very commonly used but difficult to recycle multi-layer barrier packaging board and presents a real opportunity for the industry to solve a long-term environmental problem with a mono-material alternative that is readily recyclable.”

Currently the subject of a Joint Development Agreement with a major global player in beverage packaging, ReZorce offers advantages over traditional (“composite”) beverage cartons delivering a lower carbon footprint, recyclability via standard recycling streams and is designed for the circular economy, initially by using 30% post-consumer recycled materials. Crucially, ReZorce can be processed on existing packing and filling equipment and therefore requires only minor capital investment by the retailer or packaging company wishing to adopt this disruptive technology.

David Stirling, Zotefoams Group CEO, comments, “It is particularly pleasing for the team developing ReZorce to be recognised with this award ahead of commercial trials early in 2024. At Zotefoams, our purpose is to deliver optimal material solutions for the benefit of society, reflected in the judging panel’s recognition that ReZorce has the potential to solve a long-term environmental problem.

“We continue to make good progress against the milestones set out in the Joint Development Agreement, buoyed by clear market demand for a sustainable alternative material for beverage cartons.”
