RM Unify extends its role in school communication with new parent-facing workflow

RM plc

RM has introduced a new feature for RM Unify Premium customers that is designed to make parental communication more practical within the Microsoft 365 environment. The addition enables weekly Teams Assignments digests to be sent to parents or guardians, giving schools a simpler way to share recent and upcoming pupil work with families.

The feature addresses a specific and familiar issue in school technology. Schools may want parents and guardians to receive regular summaries of student assignments, but the process of making that work reliably can be awkward. Parent and guardian email addresses need to be validated, synchronised into Microsoft 365 and matched accurately to the correct student accounts. In practice, that creates friction. It introduces technical effort, raises the likelihood of administrative delays and can slow adoption of otherwise useful functionality. By reducing that complexity, RM is aiming at a part of the workflow where practical barriers often matter more than the availability of the end feature itself.

Microsoft Teams already offers the underlying weekly digest functionality for student assignments, but schools still need a workable route to connect the right contact details to the right records. RM’s update uses the existing Parent Management capability within RM Unify, alongside Microsoft federation and MIS Sync, to synchronise parent or guardian contact email addresses for use in those digests. In effect, RM is turning an available but technically demanding process into something more accessible for schools already using its platform.
